WOODSTOCK, Va – The Shenandoah County Sheriff’s Office says it has regained its status as an accredited law enforcement agency.
Late last week, Sheriff Tim Carter announced that he and members of his command staff went before the Virginia Law Enforcement Professional Standards Commission for a final assessment. He said that the office met all 191 state standards for accreditation with no deficiencies.
In Virginia, accreditation must be renewed every four years. The office had its status revoked last June when chemicals from meth investigations were found being stored outside the evidence locker.
Sheriff Carter said this is the fifth accreditation granted to the office during his 20-year administration.
