Another day, another scam attempt reported in the commonwealth.
Shenandoah County sheriff Tim Carter is once again warning residents to be on the lookout for a potential scam, this time involving a phone call from the sheriff office’s number by someone claiming to be with the agency.
Carter said on social media that a resident received such a call, which “warned” them that they’re being subpoenaed to court. Because of a failure to appear, the caller says, the victim will need to pay money to post as bond.
Carter says this is a scam, and anyone who receives this call should hang up and call actual authorities immediately.
