(WOODSTOCK) A new policy approved by Shenandoah County’s School Board allows a parent, teacher or any other resident of the county to raise a concern about a particular book or material.

In recent meetings, parents have said some materials are not appropriate for their children.

After Thursday night’s unanimous vote in favor of the policy, board member Andrew Keller said the new policy is simply about making sure librarians provide an appropriate selection of books and media.

Under the policy, any book brought under question would be pulled from circulation until a decision can be made by a special review committee.
