WOODSTOCK, Va. –  The Shenandoah County Sheriff’s Office is alerting folks of another scam circulating around the area.

Sheriff Tim Carter reported that residents have received calls from someone posing as law enforcement and asking for money.

The caller states that they are a law enforcement officer, and that the resident needed to obtain money orders to pay off an outstanding debt, or a warrant will be issued for their arrest.

Carter said that the Shenandoah County Sheriff’s Office will never require anyone to repay a debt using a prepaid debit card, a retail gift card or cash.

He advises anyone who receives this call to hang up immediately and report it to the Shenandoah County Sheriff’s Office.
