HARRISONBURG, Va. — The chairman of the Rockingham County School Board says he has received reports of teachers using expletives to refer to former President Donald Trump, and advocating for students to protest the Board’s recent decisions to temporarily remove books and adopt all of Governor Glenn Youngkin’s Model Policies in Education.

In a Thursday post on social media, board chair Matt Cross wrote that these actions, if true, violate the school division’s policy.

Cross told WSVA News that while he stands completely behind teachers and their needs, he will not support a teacher that proliferates political beliefs in the classroom.

He added that the parents of any student that has been subjected to political speech by teachers should either contact him or their school board representative.
