The Harrisonburg Planning Commission will hold a public hearing this evening on a rezoning request for a proposed housing development.
Developers of the Bluestone Town Center want to build more than 900 homes as well as retail and office space on the western side of Harrisonburg.
Avi Fetcher represents one of the co-developers and he explained on Early Mornings today that this development is in response to the recent housing study that was done by the city.
Fetcher adds that they are not asking taxpayers to foot any of the bill nor are they asking for any property tax abatements and will pay for 100 percent of the traffic improvements that were identified in the traffic study.
Meanwhile, A group of residents in Harrisonburg have a number of questions and concerns about the development.
Chip McIntyre is with the group Friendly City for Smart Growth and he said on Early Mornings today that he is concerned about the potential increase in traffic.
