WASHINGTON DC: (WSVA) – The fentanyl crisis in Virginia is real. That’s the verdict from the U-S Drug Enforcement Agency, which says in a new report that it seized more than 415-thousand fentanyl pills across the commonwealth last year – a 260-percent increase over 2022.
D-E-A blames a pair of Mexican cartels for supplying the drug to gangs and localized drug traffickers, who often spread it among unsuspecting customers.
Fentanyl use has become increasingly rampant in recent years: data from the Virginia Department of Health shows that two years ago, nearly 8 in every 10 overdose deaths involved fentanyl or some type of derivative.
