Virginia State Police are investigating a fatal two-vehicle crash in Nelson County.

The accident happened just after 9:30 Monday night at the intersection of Routes 29 and 655, south of Lovingston.

Spokesperson Corinne Geller reported that a 2005 Chevrolet Malibu was westbound on Route 655 and as it was traveling across Route 29, it pulled into the path of an another car and the two vehicles collided.

A passenger in the Malibu, 25-year-old Elizabeth Simmons of Arrington, died at the scene while the drivers of both vehicles were taken to the hospital for treatment of serious injuries.

Geller says charges are pending.
