HARRISONBURG VA: (WSVA) – A trial initially set to begin today is no longer necessary for the man charged in the shooting death of another man in Harrisonburg a year-and-a-half ago.
A judge had been set to gavel in a four-day jury trial for Lewis Bailey at 9 o’clock this morning in Rockingham County Circuit Court. However, online records indicate that Bailey pled guilty to one count of second-degree murder earlier this month. Prosecutors declined to pursue two other charges against him.
Bailey had originally been indicted on those three felony charges last March, which stemmed from an incident in October 2022 where shots were fired in the 200 block of Community Street, leaving a 38-year-old man dead.
Bailey’s sentencing date is set for August 30th.
