RICHMOND, Va – The Virginia Lottery has released its report on sports wagering activity for July.
During the month, Virginians wagered nearly 294 million dollars, which was over 10 percent higher than last July.
Bettors won a total of over 261 million.
State law places a 15 percent tax on sports betting activity based on each permit holder’s adjusted gross revenue.
That means the state earned over 4.1 million dollars in taxes and another 103-thousand dollars went to the Problem Gambling Treatment and Support Fund Allocation.
