The commonwealth claimed over 6 million dollars in January taxes from a booming sports betting industry.
The latest Virginia Lottery report shows that the state collected nearly 6-point-4 million dollars from licensed betting operators to start the year. That indicates a 6-percent increase in sports gambling revenue from January 2022.
Virginia’s ten sportsbooks pulled in north of 42-million in adjusted gross revenue. That profit is subject to a 15-percent state tax.
Nearly 160-thousand was added to the Virginia Problem Gambling Treatment and Support Fund.
