It’s been a big week for several members of the Harrisonburg Fire Department.
Last Wednesday, chief Matt Tobia was named Virginia’s co-Fire Chief of the Year alongside Barry Lott of Riverheads V-F-D. This weekend, nine members of the department will see their own efforts rewarded.
During a promotion ceremony Sunday, Harrisonburg Fire will name two new captains, two lieutenants and a battalion chief. Three rank-and-file firemen will make the leap to master firefighter, and one member will become deputy chief of support services.
Three employees up for promotion have been with the department over 15 years.
The ceremony is set for 2 o’clock at City Hall.
