CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va – A former Republican congresswoman known for battling Donald Trump is going back to college.
The University of Virginia’s Center for Politics announced Liz Cheney will come on board as a professor of practice.
Larry Sabato, the director of the U-V-A Center for Politics, told C-B-S News 19 that democracy is under siege, but that Cheney stands for what she believes in.
“Liz Cheney, in my view, stands for democracy. And I’ll be honest, she was my first choice. I’m not going to say the only person that would fill this Professor of Practice, but she was my first, second, and third choice. And this is her first appointment since leaving Congress. So, she’s got a lot to tell us,” Sabato said. “Students have a lot to learn from her. And for that matter, we all have a lot to learn from her.
Cheney lost her Republican primary last year after she relentlessly criticized the former President over his claims about the 2020 presidential election.
