NEW ORLEANS, La. – James Madison senior Holden Koons was selected amongst the best from the Sun Belt Conference, as he was voted First Team All-Sun Belt singles for the 2022-23 men’s tennis season.

Koons has turned in a 29-12 singles record this between the fall and spring, which includes a 14-7 mark during dual-match play, all while playing on court one. In conference play alone, Koons was 4-4 against the league’s top competition, with three of his four league setbacks coming in three sets.

All 14 of his wins this spring have come in straight sets, which includes conceding a combined five or fewer games in 11 of those victories. He was also named Sun Belt Player of the Week back on Feb. 8.

Additionally, Koons is 13-13 in doubles play, with a 10-6 mark in the spring on court one. He and teammate Francisco Sinopoli went 3-2 at the No. 1 spot during Sun Belt play.

This is the third straight year Koons has been named to an all-conference first team, as he earned the distinction in 2021 and 2022 while in the Colonial Athletic Association. Koons was also voted CAA Player of the Year a season ago before the Dukes entered the Sun Belt.

For his career, the York, Pa., native has 145 combined victories, with 88 in singles and 57 in doubles.
