NORTHBOROUGH, Mass. – For the second straight week, James Madison lacrosse enters the week’s play fifth in the nation, remaining at No. 5 in Monday’s ILWomen/IWLCA Division Poll.

JMU remained in its first top-five ranking from the IWLCA since the 2019 preseason poll, having last been ranked No. 5 or better in-season during the 2018 national championship run.

JMU secured its ninth and 10th consecutive wins last week, gutting out a 10-8 victory at home against No. 12 Virginia on Wednesday and winning by the same margin at Temple on Saturday. The victory over Virginia required a fourth-quarter comeback as JMU trailed by two goals on three separate occasions during the game, including with 14:09 left in the fourth quarter.

A six-goal week for senior Tai Jankowski and eight total points from Isabella Peterson led the Dukes offensively. On defense, Kat Buchanan stifled opposing attacks for 21 saves and a .568 save percentage for the week. Rachel Matey keyed the draw control with 10 total for the week, including a season-high eight against Virginia, adding a caused turnover and two ground balls to her defensive stats this week.

The Dukes enter the final month of the season with just six games left on the regular season slate. JMU is set to face in-state and American Athletic Conference foe Old Dominion on Saturday at noon at Sentara Park.
