NORTHBOROUGH, Mass. – Equaling its highest-ever ranking in over four years, James Madison lacrosse took the No. 4 ranking in the ILWomen/IWLCA Division I Poll, the organizations announced Monday morning.

JMU earned a top-five national spot for the third consecutive week and is ranked No. 4 in the coaches’ poll for the first time since the 2019 Preseason Poll.

The Dukes routed in-state rival Old Dominion on Saturday 16-2, scoring the first 15 goals and holding the Monarchs scoreless for 50:00. The win marked JMU’s 11th straight, the second straight season the Dukes have had an 11-game winning streak.

Redshirt junior Isabella Peterson propelled the Dukes on Saturday with three goals and five points in total. A stout defense was led by junior Nicholle Marshall with three ground balls while redshirt senior Mairead Durkin, redshirt sophomore Maggie Clark, and senior Lilly Boswell each turned in a caused turnover and two ground balls.

JMU (11-1, 3-0) will face a home matchup on Wednesday at 5 p.m. against Richmond who moved into this week’s ranking at the No. 23 spot before an American Athletic Conference contest at Vanderbilt on Saturday at noon. Both matchups are available on ESPN+.
