Albemarle County (WSVA)- An attempted traffic stop in Charlottesville Wednesday afternoon sparked a police chase that ended with the westbound lanes of I-64 shut down for about an hour.
In a release, spokesperson Corrinne Geller revealed that Antwan Maxie is facing seven total charges, including assault on a law enforcement officer and three counts of possession of a Schedule I or II drug, third offense.
The 39-year-old from Buckingham County initiated a high-speed chase by police after fleeing an attempted traffic stop on Fifth Street near Charlottesville, leading police onto I-64 westbound.
He was arrested after authorities used a ‘rolling roadblock’ to stop the vehicle, where they discovered cocaine, fentanyl, and a firearm.
