STAUNTON, Va – The Staunton man who is accused of killing a 2-year-old girl more than a year ago was scheduled to go to trial next Tuesday.

However, online court records indicate that Christopher Scott Hoover is scheduled to enter pleas in the case on Tuesday morning. A plea hearing is set for 10 o’clock in Staunton Circuit Court

The 24-year-old Hoover was indicted on three felony counts back on April 17th after the case was moved out of Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court. Among the charges include Second Degree Murder.

His arrest came after an investigation into the death of Averianna May on June 18th of last year. Police had described Hoover as being in a caregiver role at the time of her death.

Hoover is still held without bond at Middle River Regional Jail.
