WAYNESBORO, Va – Authorities are investigating a fatal accident that happened Monday morning at a construction site in Waynesboro.

According to a news release from the Waynesboro Police Department, officers responded shortly before 8:30 to the site in the 1800 block of Lyndhurst Road.

A preliminary investigation determined that an unoccupied bulldozer was in motion and proceeded east to North Oak Lane, before impacting Oak Hill United Methodist Church, and a house before finally coming to a stop in the 300 block of North Oak Lane.

A member of the construction crew, a 59-year-old Harrisonburg man, was struck by the bulldozer and died at the scene. His identity was not released.

Investigators from the Occupational Health & Safety Administration responded to the scene.
