HARRISONBURG, Va – Harrisonburg City Council unanimously passed its budget for the upcoming fiscal year worth 362 million dollars. That’s an increase of 27 million over last year. Five million is allocated for Harrisonburg City Schools.
Some residents had expressed concerns over a drop in funding for city non-profits during previous meetings. Mayor Deanna Reed said during Tuesday night’s meeting that cutting some of that funding was a difficult decision to make – but overall, she’s happy with how the budget turned out.
Keep in mind, state lawmakers still have not approved an overarching budget, which opens the door for future changes in local money management.
