RICHMOND, Va – Governor Glenn Youngkin announced Thursday that pursuant to President Joe Biden’s Presidential Proclamation to lower the United States flag, he has ordered that both the U-S and Commonwealth of Virginia flags are to be flown at half-staff over the state Capitol and all local, state, and federal buildings in the state in memory of the lives lost and those injured in the Lewiston, Maine shooting.
The order means that flags will be lowered immediately and remain at half-staff until sunset on Monday.
Incidentally, this is the 18th half-staff order issued in the commonwealth this year, and the second one this week.
