HARRISONBURG, Va. — Virginia Senate Democrats recently proposed their latest counteroffer in this year’s drawn-out negotiations over the state budget.
During an appearance last night at the Rockingham County Fair, Governor Glenn Youngkin said he has yet to read the Senate’s entire proposal. However, he agreed that leaders of both parties need to hash out their differences and send him a compromised version.
Democratic Senator Creigh Deeds says that his caucus presented an offer that included several concessions, including some permanent tax cuts that Youngkin has sought.
Aside from politics, the governor took time to enjoy the 75th edition of the fair – shaking hands, taking photos, and feasting on hamburgers produced by volunteer firefighters.
