RICHMOND, Va. — Governor Glenn Youngkin says Virginia will reverse course on its current plan to phase out the sale of new gas-powered vehicles by 2035 – if Republicans take back the Senate later this year.
Yesterday, Youngkin spokeswoman Macaulay Porter told the Washington Examiner that Virginia’s adoption of the State of California air quality policy “defies common sense.”
Porter blamed Democrats in the state for allowing Virginia to be “held Hostage” by what she called unelected bureaucrats in the Golden State. She vowed that the Youngkin administration is working to “ensure this is not the energy future for Virginia.”
Earlier this year, a push to overturn the mandate died in the Senate.
