EAGLE PASS, Tx. — Earlier this week, Governor Glenn Youngkin paid a visit to the Virginia National Guard troops that he sent to the Texas/Mexico border nearly a month ago.

In a release, Youngkin said the purpose of the Wednesday visit was to “express gratitude” to those soldiers and airmen for their willingness to serve.

110 servicemembers were deployed to Eagle Pass, Texas on July 8th in support of Operation Lone Star, which was implemented by Texas Governor Greg Abbot to stem illegal immigration near the Rio Grande.

Twelve other states have also sent troops to aid in the operation.
