RICHMOND, Va. — Governor Glenn Youngkin has ordered flags lowered to half-staff across the commonwealth today to commemorate the 82nd anniversary of the Japanese attack on the U-S Navy base in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii.

The governor said that American and Virginia flags on all government properties will be lowered in “solemn memory and respect” for the nearly 4,000 servicemembers killed or wounded on December 7th, 1941.

The “day which will live in infamy” sparked a declaration of war against Japan the very next day, springboarding the U-S directly into the Second World War.

This is the 25th half-staff order issued by Governor Youngkin this year.
