WALLACE, N.C. – James Madison women’s golf grabbed another strong finish at its first stroke play event of the spring on Tuesday, taking home second place at the River Landing Classic, hosted by UNCW at the par-72, 6,088-yard River Landing Golf Club.
Junior Kendall Turner led the way with her third straight top-five finish, taking sole possession of third place at 3-over 219 (74-70-75) on a 67-player leaderboard. Her second round marked her 10th round of par or better this year, already third-most in a single season in program history.
As a team, the Dukes posted rounds of 295 and 292 before a final-round 304 on a blustery morning at River Landing, navigating an 11-team field to earn their third consecutive top-two finish.
Senior Kate Owens picked up a top-10 finish herself, the second of her season, as she posted steady rounds of 76-74-74 on her way to a tie for 10th, while junior Haley Quickel was just one stroke behind after three straight rounds of 75 (+3) lifted her into a tie for 12th.
Sophomore Kayleigh Reinke (70-74-82) was just a shot behind Quickel in a tie for 15th, while junior Amelia Williams tied for 26th at 230 (76-74-80).
Playing as individuals, sophomore Tatum Walsh and freshman Maria Atwood tied for 29th and 55th, respectively. Walsh closed at 231 (80-78-73) after a strong final round, while Atwood finished at 244 (86-78-80).

The Dukes will be back in action two weeks from now, traveling to True Blue Golf Club in Pawley’s Island, S.C. for the Golfweek Invitational on March 27-29.
