STRASBURG, Va – The Town of Strasburg has declared a Drought Emergency Condition and is requiring all residents and businesses to begin water conservation measures.

According to a press release, as of last Wednesday, the seven-day average flow had dropped to 70 cubic feet per second so the town is required to follow a drought response plan.

That means non-essential water use will be prohibited, including watering lawns, washing paved surfaces and washing vehicles, unless it is at a business car wash which uses reclaimed water.

Water restrictions do not apply to the agricultural production of food or maintenance of livestock.
