WASHINGTON, D.C. — The House of Representatives voted 314-117 last night to pass the debt limit agreement crafted by President Joe Biden and House Speaker Kevin McCarthy.
Two of the no votes were from local representatives, including West Virginia Congressman Alex Mooney. He told MetroNews Talkline prior to the vote that the House had already passed a bill addressing the debt limit that the Democratic-controlled Senate never considered.
Meanwhile in Virginia, Sixth District Congressman Ben Cline tweeted out last night after the vote that Joe Biden’s reckless spending policies have put the country on a race to the bottom and the American people demand and deserve concrete change in how Washington operates.
The Senate now has until Monday to pass the bill and move it to the president’s desk to avoid a potential default.
