UNDATED – C-N-B-C released its list of top states for business and for the second year in a row, North Carolina is the number one state.

Virginia was the runner-up this year, moving up a spot from number three last year.

The commonwealth scored very well in the education category, ranking first in the country.

However, Virginia was hurt by its 34th ranking in cost of doing business. That is nine spots lower than last year.

Incidentally, neighboring West Virginia was ranked 46th, which was down two spots from last year.
