DEMOREST, Ga. — The Bridgewater College men’s lacrosse team used a 10-goal second half to defeat Piedmont, 12-10, at the Walker Athletic Complex on Wednesday afternoon.

Final Score: Bridgewater 12, Piedmont 10
Records: Bridgewater 2-0; Piedmont 3-3

HOW IT HAPPENED
• The Lions jumped out to 2-0 lead after goals from Michael Anderson and Jacob Hasbrouck inside the last five minutes of the first quarter. The two scores were the only ones of the first 15 minutes as Piedmont held a 2-0 lead after one period of play.

• Riley Stewart got Bridgewater on the board with 12:33 left in the opening half off an assist from Drew Huber before Grant Nyland netted an equalizer just 30 seconds later to tie the contest at 2-2.

• Hasbrouck got his second goal of the game just over a minute later and Ian Parr recoded a goal with four minutes left in the half to give the Lions a 4-2 advantage heading into the break.

• Connor Rogers helped add to the Piedmont lead with a goal at 13:39 in the third, but the Eagles’ responded in a big way as Trevor McClelland used a Connor McLean pass to score at 12:35 followed by a goal from Huber to cut the lead to just one goal at 5-4.

• Piedmont scored another with 8:33 on the clock, but consecutive goals from Dan Flynn and Stewart tied the game at 6-6 heading into the final 15 minutes.

• The Lions looked to put the game away in the early minutes of the fourth as they tallied three-straight goals to retake a three-goal lead at 9-6 with seven and a half minutes left in regulation.

• McLean scored twice less than 40 seconds apart to get Bridgewater within one goal at 9-8 before McClelland scored his second of the game to knot the game at 9-9. The Lions were called for a one minute tripping penalty that led to an extra-man opportunity for the Eagles. Luke Wendler registered a man-up goal off a pass from McLean to give Bridgewater it’s first lead fo the day at 10-9. Chris Martel and Huber added on scores following the goal to take a 12-9 advantage on the way to a 12-10 BC victory.

GAME STATS
• McLean finished with five points on two goals and three assists to go with a ground bll, while Huber tallied two goals and an assist.

• McClelland, Stewart and Nyland all finished with two points, while 11 total players recorded points in the win.

• Defensively, Grant Heidebrecht led the team with three caused turnovers to go with a pair of ground balls. Jacob Mead and Ryan Addison each forced two turnovers with Addison grabbing a pair of ground balls as well.

• Gabriel Alexander went 14-for-23 in faceoffs with six ground balls.

• Tyler Carney played all 60 minutes in the cage with 15 saves and also recorded an assist.

• For Piedmont, Johnny Matrona stopped 14 shots in the loss, while Anderson and Hasbrouck each had two goals. Eric Fewell had three caused turnovers while Noah McLain and Andrew Pagano each had a pair. Chris Pannenbacker led the way with four ground balls and was 10-of-26 at the faceoff x.
