WINCHESTER, Va. – The Bridgewater College baseball team fell 10-2 to No. 3 Shenandoah on Tuesday evening in ODAC action.

Records: Bridgewater 12-20 (5-9 ODAC); Shenandoah 27-3 (12-2 ODAC)

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Brandan Hartman extended his reaching base safely streak instantly in the top of the first with a single to the right side but was left stranded after a fielder’s choice ended the inning.

• Shenandoah hopped on the board right away in the bottom half of the opening frame as a bases loaded walk brought in the opening run for the Hornets. The No. 3 team in the land loaded the bases in the top of the second with no outs and capitalized with a grand slam to clear the bases and make it a 5-0 game.

• BC got on the board in the top of the fourth as Jonathan Sexton delivered with runners on the corners. The catcher singled and drove in Hartman to pull the visiting side back to within four.

• Shenandoah blew the game open in the bottom of the sixth with a five spot. A two-run double from Frankie Ritter got the No. 3 team in the country rolling in the frame allowing the Hornets to make it a 10-1 game.

• Bridgewater got one back in the seventh as Sexton doubled down the line in left and advanced to third on a wild pitch. Camden Herron stepped in and reached on an infield hit allowing for Sexton to score and make it 10-2. Two scoreless frames from Nick Griffin kept the Hornets at bay but BC was unable to push any runners across.

GAME STATS
• Hartman extended his on base streak to 30 games. The streak is the second longest in recent program history.

• Sexton, Jeffrey Snider and Hartman all tallied multi-hit performances in the loss.

• Griffin tossed 2.1 scoreless innings and did not allow a base runner.

• Jacob Bell picked up the win for the No. 3 Hornets after 7.0 innings of work without surrendering a walk.

• Tyler Bittersdorf ended the day with five RBI including the grand slam for Shenandoah.

Bridgewater is back in action on Saturday as Roanoke visits for a pair of contests beginning at noon.
