HARRISONBURG, Va – The 16th Brent Berry Food Drive wrapped up Friday morning after five weeks of collections, and organizer Bucky Berry says this could be the most successful drive ever.
Rockingham County supervisor Leila Longcore spent the morning watching donations roll in at the Salvation Army of Harrisonburg and Rockingham County. She was shocked at the sheer volume of food provided by the community.
Members of the Rockingham County Sheriff’s Office, Fire and Rescue, and the Broadway Police Department were joined by the Harrisonburg High School football team to unload six busloads and two vehicle trailers of food.
Berry predicts that his $80,000-goal was shattered with over $100,000 worth and money raised.
