LURAY, Va – The Page County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed that a five-year-old boy drowned in the Shenandoah River earlier this week.

Sheriff Chad Cubbage did not release much information, only to say that the investigation is ongoing and to pray for the family during this difficult time.

The call came in shortly after 4 o’clock Tuesday afternoon, and the boy’s body was recovered a short time later.

Efforts to revive the child were unsuccessful.
