Records: Bridgewater 18-5, 13-4 ODAC; Roanoke 17-7, 11-6 ODAC
HOW IT HAPPENED
• The Eagles opened the game with back-to-back buckets. Abby Freeman knocked down a layup and India Dailey found Abby Branner open beyond the arc. Roanoke responded with a pair of jumpers to get back to within a point, but another Branner bucket pushed the BC lead out. Roanoke was able to respond and close the lead back to a single point, but BC locked in with a 7-0 run over a three-minute span capped off by a pair of free throws from Jasmyn Pierce. The Maroons stopped the scoring drought but five more points from Riley Corcoran stopped any chance of a run by the visitors and gave BC a 19-8 advantage after the opening 10 minutes.
• Jay Garcia opened the scoring in the second quarter for the home side. Roanoke quickly responded with a score of their own on the next trip down the floor. Another quick 7-0 spurt for the Eagles capped off by a Rosemary Pierson layup pushed the advantage out to 28-11. The Maroons responded with buckets on consecutive trips down the floor to draw back to within 13, but two shots from the charity stripe by Jaden Alsberry stopped the Roanoke momentum. The team traded buckets and India Dailey pulled up in the paint and knocked down a layup at the buzzer to make it 35-17 in favor of the Eagles at the intermission.
• Out of the half, each side traded buckets until a Freeman layup sparked a quick 6-0 run capped off by a coast-to-coast layup by India Dailey, putting BC up by 22. The Maroons put together a 7-0 stretch and held BC scoreless for over three minutes until Pierce stopped the run with a layup. Erika Nettles helped BC stretch the lead a bit, but back-to-back buckets from Roanoke to close the quarter made it 47-32 heading into the final frame.
• Sayre Brandstatter nailed a triple for Roanoke to close the game to 12 inside the first minute of the fourth quarter. Freeman responded for BC with a second-chance effort, but the Maroons were not fading as they responded with a layup. After the score by the visiting side, they were held without a field goal for the next 3:48 and BC capitalized. The Eagles went on an 11-2 run with seven points from Alsberry. Roanoke scored their next two trips but a triple from Pierson helped seal the deal for the home side.
