WEYERS CAVE VA (WSVA)- On January 30, 2024, at 12:37 pm, The Augusta County Sheriff’s Office received a call from Blue Ridge Community College indicating that an unknown student who was in the cafeteria had allegedly received a phone call 45 minutes to an hour prior, instructing them “to get out of the cafeteria because it was about to be set on fire.”
Sheriff’s Lieutenant Leslie Snyder reported that an unknown student who allegedly received the threatening phone call left the cafeteria. 45 minutes to an hour after the initial phone call was received, other students who had overheard this information notified campus security.
The BRCC Security initiated a lockdown of several BRCC buildings and notified the 911 center. Augusta County Deputies and BRCC security officers searched the campus, and did not locate anything suspicious. The lockdown was lifted at 1:12 pm.
The Augusta County Sheriff’s Office has identified the student that allegedly received the call and this incident is an ongoing investigation.
