Anicira’s pet food pantry is adding extra distribution dates to its monthly calendar.

Communications manager Katie Nichols said due to an increase in demand because of inflation and the resulting economic hardship, the pantry has begun operating the second and fourth Saturdays of every month at 910 North Liberty Street in Harrisonburg.

She says the pantry is also seeking donations to help prepare for the influx of additional clients, and volunteers to handle client check-in, food distribution or traffic control. Unopened bags of pet food may be dropped off at the Anicira Veterinary Center.

Last year, the organization says it distributed nearly 150-thousand pounds of food.
