STAUNTON, Va. — The Augusta County Sheriff’s Office says charges are pending against a Beverley Manor Middle School student who allegedly sent online threats to peers.
In a release, Lieutenant Leslie Snyder said that parents and staff were notified Tuesday afternoon about TikTok videos that were under investigation.
Later in the night, Snyder says that some students then received messages on the app Snapchat that were “threatening in nature.”
Investigators determined that a student at Beverley Manor created the Snapchat account and sent the messages; Snyder said the student has been identified and will likely face charges soon.
Sheriff Donald Smith added that there is no threat to the school community, but extra deputies will be on duty at the school today to ensure safety.
