FISHERSVILLE VA: (ROCKTOWN NOW)- A man from Stuarts Draft, Justin Riley Harvey, will remain in custody after a high-speed chase led to a multi-vehicle crash. Harvey’s bond hearing, initially set for Tuesday, has been postponed to March 11th in Augusta County General District Court. The 36-year-old faces nine charges, including first-offense DWI, drug possession, and felony eluding. The incident began when a sheriff’s deputy attempted a traffic stop, but Harvey sped away, resulting in an eight-vehicle crash that sent multiple people to the hospital. Sheriff Donald Smith reported that Harvey fled due to felony warrants issued by the Waynesboro Circuit Court.
The charges from the Augusta County Sheriff’s Office (ACSO) and the Virginia State Police (VSP) include: Driving Under the Influence of Drugs (VSP), No Insurance (VSP), No Seatbelt (VSP), Failure to Stop at a Red Light (three counts, ACSO), Reckless Driving (ACSO), Felony Eluding (ACSO), Possession of a Controlled Substance (ACSO).
Harvey is currently held without bond at Middle River Regional Jail.
