The Food Bank announced last week that it will participate in the USDA’s Summer Food Service Program, which will provide children in 13 locations with healthy food that they might not be able to access otherwise.

Library Director Zach Elder says that the theme of this year’s program is “Adventure Begins at Your Library.” He told Rocktown Now that although folks may think it’s geared toward kids, the program is actually open to kids of all ages – and nothing is off limits.

The Rockingham-Harrisonburg SPCA says that it has a “dire need” to find foster or forever homes for dogs in its care as space in the shelter is dwindling.
