Miyares asked to defend constitutionality of statute allowing Harrisonburg speed cameras

Last month, Scott Boger, of Mount Jackson, filed the federal lawsuit against the city of Harrisonburg and several others after he received a ticket in July because the vehicle he owns was clocked traveling 44 miles per hour in the 25 mile-per-hour zone on Route 33 at the Interstate 81 interchange.

Reed, Dent and Alsaadun projected to win Harrisonburg City Council election

Mayor Deanna Reed appears to be reelected as she earned 8,113 votes, while Vice Mayor Laura Dent also appeared to be reelected with 7,497 votes. Newcomer Nasser Alsaadun finished third with 6,053 votes, meaning he would replace council member Chris Jones after his defeat in the Democratic primary election earlier this summer.
