LEXINGTON, Va. (BC Athletics) – The Bridgewater College women’s tennis team fell to the top-seeded No. 9 Washington and Lee Generals on Wednesday 5-0 in the ODAC Quarterfinals.
The Generals kept the Eagles off the scoreboard in doubles action with 8-0 victories across the board.
WLU jumped in front quick in singles with a win at the No. 5 spot without dropping a game. The Eagles got some resistance throughout the singles ladder with their backs to the wall Emily Wylie worked hard and got on the board in the opening frame before falling 1-6, 0-6 in the clinching loss to the No. 44 player in the nation.
Emma Nesselrodt put up a good fight for BC at the top spot as she was behind 1-6, 1-3 but had the last laugh as she got the final game before the match was halted. Both Ryan Roeber and Jolexie Whetzel each got on the board in singles play before trailing 1-6, 0-3 at the stoppage.
The Eagles season comes to a close as BC finishes with a 9-10 overall record on the season and returned to the ODAC Tournament after missing the field last season.
