HARRISONBURG, Va. (ROCKTOWN NOW) – A man who allegedly fired a gun at the suspect who tried to rob him in the 7-Eleven parking lot on South Main Street in Harrisonburg late last week was arrested.
Travis Fogle, 27, of Moorefield, West Virginia, has been charged with maliciously shooting into an occupied motor vehicle.
According to police, multiple people, including Fogle, called 9-11 shortly after noon last Thursday, April 25, reporting shots fired at the vehicle as it fled the area travelling east on Pleasant Valley Road. Fogle reported that he had been robbed in the parking lot and shot at a black 2016 Ford Fusion driven by the suspect, identified as Tevin E. White.
An HPD investigation found that Fogle allegedly recovered a pistol from his own vehicle, before firing multiple shots at the vehicle as it drove away. Working with the Harrisonburg/Rockingham Commonwealth Attorney’s office, police determined that Fogle’s actions were not permissible by law as the suspect had fled the scene.
Fogle was processed at the Rockingham County Jail and released on an unsecured bond, according to HPD Lt. Chris Monahan.
There were no reported injuries as a result of the incident.
“Fogle’s actions endangered numerous other bystanders,” Monahan said.
A felony warrant was obtained against White, 29, of Ama, Louisiana. During the investigation, detectives with HPD’s Major Crimes Unit determined the robbery took place with force but without displaying a weapon.
Pennsylvania State Police arrested White on Saturday, April 27. He is currently awaiting extradition at the Schuylkill County Jail in Pottsville, Pa.
