HARRISONBURG, Va. – Harrisonburg’s Public Safety agencies will host a joint recruitment event this week to encourage community members to start their career in emergency services.
Representatives from the Harrisonburg Fire Department, Harrisonburg Police Department and the Harrisonburg-Rockingham Emergency Communication Center will host a Meet and Greet at the Public Safety Building, 101 N. Main St., on Wednesday, April 17, from 4 to 7 p.m. All three agencies are actively seeking motivated individuals to start a career in their prospective organizations, and anyone interested is encouraged to attend to ask questions and learn more about their hiring processes.
“This is a tremendous opportunity to pursue a career in which you are able to help your friends and neighbors right here in your own community,” HFD Lt. Erin Stehle said. “Public safety is a calling and requires the aptitude and sense of commitment to want to serve the community. We want people that uphold the mission of the City and are ready to make a difference.”
Prior training or experience is not required for many of the open positions. Candidates must be motivated, possess a strong
desire to help others and a commitment to upholding the honor and integrity of the City. Many positions offer extensive benefits including healthcare, paid holidays and vacation, a generous retirement upon completion of a career, advancement with salary adjustments, opportunities for training, financial support for earning a degree and stipends for achieving training milestones.
