RICHMOND, VA – (JMU ATHLETICS) — James Madison University’s swim and dive program has once again demonstrated excellence beyond the pool, earning national recognition for academic achievement from the College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA).
The Dukes were named a CSCAA Scholar All-America Team for the Spring 2025 semester after posting an impressive team GPA of 3.57, well above the 3.00 threshold required for the honor. In addition to the team accolade, seven student-athletes were named CSCAA Scholar All-Americans, highlighting their dual commitment to athletic and academic success.
The individual honorees — Riley Bridgman, Alexa Holloway, Natalie Jones, Emma LaFountain, Maddie O’Mera, Jess Pryne, and Kate Vitolo — were all named to the Second Team, which recognizes student-athletes who achieved a GPA of 3.5 or higher and met NCAA “B” standard times or qualified for a diving zone meet.
Standout Performances
Riley Bridgman, an inclusive early childhood education major, earned NCAA “B” standard times in the 100 and 200 breaststroke at the Sun Belt Championship, capturing gold in both events with times of 1:01.11 and 2:12.73.
Alexa Holloway, a recent biology graduate, qualified for the NCAA Zone A Diving Championships on all three boards. She set Sun Belt Championship records on the 3-meter (350.35) and platform (267.15) events.
Natalie Jones, a psychology major, also qualified for all three diving boards at Zones. She posted a season-best 298.40 on the 3-meter and recorded five Zone-qualifying scores on the 1-meter.
Emma LaFountain, a freshman psychology major, earned a silver medal on the platform at the Sun Belt Championship with a score of 257.25, securing her spot at Zones.
Maddie O’Mera, majoring in health sciences, qualified for Zones in both the 1-meter and 3-meter events. She placed fourth on the 3-meter at the conference meet with a season-high 312.85.
Jess Pryne, a communications graduate, claimed her fourth consecutive Sun Belt title in the 400 IM with an NCAA “B” cut time of 4:14.25.
Kate Vitolo, an accounting major, qualified for Zones with multiple scores on both the 1-meter and 3-meter boards. She earned third place on the 3-meter at the Sun Belt Championship with a season-best 321.20.
This recognition underscores JMU’s commitment to fostering student-athletes who excel both in competition and in the classroom.
