HARRISONBURG VA: (ROCKTOWN NOW) – Residents across the Shenandoah Valley can expect a brief reprieve from the recent humidity today, thanks to a persistent area of high pressure bringing drier and more comfortable conditions. However, this break will be short-lived. Beginning Sunday, a prolonged stretch of very hot weather is forecast to settle in, lasting through at least the middle of next week. This heatwave will be driven by a large ridge of high pressure building over the eastern United States, pushing temperatures well above seasonal averages. As the week progresses, the weather pattern is expected to shift once again. By mid to late week, a frontal system approaching from the north will increase the risk of showers and thunderstorms, potentially offering some relief from the heat.
