HARRISONBURG, Va. (EMU Athletics) – Following a home victory over Shenandoah, the EMU Diamond Royals were right back at their own ballpark on Wednesday for a non-conference showdown with Christopher Newport. This game did not go nearly as well for EMU as the Captains sailed back to Newport News with a 17-0 victory over EMU.

• The Captains bombarded the Royals with three runs in the first innings, one in the second, three more in the third, and then five runs apiece in the fifth and sixth innings.
• The Royals’ pitching staff of Rudd, Marcus Smith, Trey Mitchell, David Joslyn, Andrew Wise and Nash Withers combined for seven strikeouts.
• Nick Arnold, Noah Sanderson, Josh Gjormand and Drew Pettit each chipped in with a hit for the Royals.

EMU Baseball will play their final home game of the season tomorrow, Thursday, April 24, when they face off with Mary Baldwin. First pitch against the Fighting Squirrels is set for 4 p.m.
