RICHMOND VA: (ROCKTOWN NOW) – The Spotswood Trailblazers captured their second boys state basketball championship on Saturday with a thrilling 57-50 victory over Hopewell in the Class 3 State Tournament final. This win marks Spotswood’s first state title since 1993, ending a 32-year drought.
Camryn Pacheco led the charge for the Trailblazers, scoring an impressive 22 points. Tyler Sprague (Sprayg) added 14 points, contributing significantly to the team’s success. The Blazers showcased their resilience by rallying back from an 8-point deficit in the second half, demonstrating their determination and teamwork.
Head coach Chad Edwards expressed his pride and joy in the postgame interview with WSVA, highlighting what this championship means to him and the Spotswood program. ” Our hearts been broken several times and to breakthrough and win the last game of the year feels amazing. Amazing, amazing.” Edwards said.
He went on to credit the team with a great effort. ” First half, we were pleased with the shots we got. Just didn’t make many of them. Second-half, Tyler stepped up and made some big shots. Camryn are rock all day. Language was phenomenal down the stretch. I thought we just moved better on offense there in that little stretch. And that. A little more space for open shot”.
