BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The James Madison track & field team tied with Marshall for seventh with 48 total points at the Sun Belt Indoor Championships on Tuesday night at the Birmingham CrossPlex.

After finishing runner-up in the 5000m on Monday, junior Miranda Stanhope stormed back to win the 3000m race in a personal-best 9:35.15. With the win, Stanhope becomes JMU’s first SBC Champion, while her time makes her the third-fastest 3000m runner in program history.

Elsewhere on the track, sophomore Jordyn Henderson clocked in at 8.39 in the 60m hurdles, the fastest time in school history. She finished fifth in the competition, while Coastal Carolina’s Alexis Glasco (8.08) took first.

The 4x400m relay team of sophomore Virginia Keys, freshman Kadence Wilson, senior Arianna Eberly, and sophomore Holly Mpassy finished in a season-best 3:45.10 for fifth. The time is good for third in program history.

Track Events
• Senior Maddy Hesler kicked off the day with a career-best time of 5:02.54 for seventh in the mile.

• Sophomore Holly Mpassy ran the 400m dash in 55.51 for sixth place.
Field Events

• Senior Rachel Lloyd earned third in the pole vault at 3.79m (12′ 5.25″), while junior Erica Moolman registered a season-best 3.69m.

• Senior Skyla Davidson rounded out the top five in the triple jump with a career-best leap of 12.55m (41′ 2.25″). She remains the second-best triple jumper in the JMU record book behind former five-time All-American Tiombé Hurd’s 13.03m (42′ 9″) from 1995.

• In the high jump, seniors Alex Kwasnik and Bethany Biggi cleared 1.63m for seventh.
