BRIDGEWATER, Va. (BC Athletics) – The Bridgewater College men’s soccer team picked up a 2-0 win over Randolph on Tuesday evening.
Final Score: Bridgewater 2, Randolph 0
Records: Bridgewater 7-5-4 (3-4-1 ODAC); Randolph 3-75 (2-5-1 ODAC)
How It Happened
• The Eagles had chances early as Riley Queen fired a pair of shots, but neither made their way to the target. Anelka Ngoy flipped the field for Randolph and got shot off for the WildCats, but a save by Charles Schweinefuss spoiled the party.
• Randolph settled in the offensive end during the middle of the opening frame with multiple chances, but none found the crease. BC found chances as well down the stretch, but also could not find the target as they finished the half with zero shots on goal in a scoreless draw.
• Bridgewater had chances early in the second half including a corner kick with multiple shots on goal that were stopped by Carter Kelly. BC had a corner kick a few minutes later and did not fail as the first shot was saved by Kelly, but a scramble in front of the net saw multiple Eagles get a touch on the ball before Will Flores buried the ball into the back of the net to make it 1-0 with under 30 minutes to play.
• BC tagged on to the lead in the 76th minute as Declan Gallagher played a ball on for Riley Queen in deep. Queen took a dribble and scored jus inside the right post to make it 2-0 with under 20 to play. Randolph looked to pick up the intensity late, but fired just one shot on goal late that was saved by Schweinefuss.
Match Notes
• Flores’ trashcan goal was the first tally of his career. Queen tallied his sixth goal of the season in the victory while Gallagher, Noa Denno and Justin Scott all added assists.
• Schweinefuss made three saves in the cage for BC, while Kelly made fives saves, all in the first half.
• The Eagles outshot the WildCats 15-7 including a 7-3 edge in shots on goal.
