Central High School in Woodstock announced on Wednesday they have learned that one of the student-athletes on the varsity football team is ineligible due to a violation of Virginia High School League (VHSL) rules.
Because he played in the first four games, Central will have to forfeit those games per VHSL rules and regulations. The student-athlete will no longer be allowed to play for the team moving forward and the season will continue as scheduled.
The Falcons were 3-1 in their first four games and had won three straight after losing their opener at Riverheads. Central defeated East Rockingham, Staunton and Amelia County, so those three teams will each be awarded a victory. East Rock and Staunton are now 4-1 overall, and Amelia is 3-1.
Central had a bye week last week as they play host to King William at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
